2019
Turkish Airlines launches their first in-flight entertainment companion application for iOS and Android, joining Qantas, Lufthansa, Etihad, and more on the entertainment experience designed and developed by Mercury with Panasonic Avionics.
Vimeo relaunches their Roku application on Roku’s new SceneGraph framework. This app represents Mercury’s first foray into Roku development and expands its footprint in the connected TV space.
Nuuly, a new brand from URBN, launches their online-only brand concept with a series of Android-based kiosks. These kiosk apps, developed with Mercury’s help, allow more efficiently manage their warehouse and fulfillment process.
2018
Google launches a microsite promoting the Android TV platform. The site features a list of the Top 12 “TV Apps You’ll Love,” a list that includes both Red Bull TV and TED’s Mercury-developed TV apps.
EPB Chattanooga releases myEPB for iOS and Android. Designed and developed by Mercury, these apps allow EPB customers to get the status of local power outages, monitor power usage at their residence, and customize notifications for usage thresholds.
2017
The Red Bull TV Android TV application wins the “Best TV Experience” award at the 2017 Google Play awards, presented during Google I/O.
Lufthansa introduces an inflight entertainment application that allows passengers to both control their seat back or enjoy entertainment directly on their personal iOS and Android devices. Mercury designed and developed the app with Panasonic Avionics.
2016
The Mercury designed and developed TED Android app is revamped following new Material Design guidelines and new TED Radio Hour feature. Google later recognizes the redesigned app on its Google Play Best Apps of 2016 list.
The Red Bull TV apps for iOS, tvOS, Android/Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV launch with new designs, allowing extreme sports and music fans to better enjoy Red Bull Media House's breathtaking content. Apple prominently features the app in the App Store.
2015
Mercury begins volunteering time and resources to help serve hot meals once a month to the hungry, homeless and working poor at Nashville soup kitchen, Luke 14:12, a commitment Mercury continues today.
The XFINITY Home app for Android and iOS gets a more polished and user friendly interface with an enhanced overview screen allowing quick access to cameras, system status and controls, bolstering Mercury’s experience in the internet-of-things category.
XFINITY TV for iOS launches Day One support for Apple Watch alongside the new hardware, allowing customers to use voice and touch commands on their new wrist device to change channels, control their DVR, and see what’s on.
2014
Mercury works with Urban Outfitters to create a loyalty-centered, shopping application for Android phones and tablets. Mercury would go on to assist in the development of retail iOS apps for other URBN brands such as Anthropologie and Free People.
Crossly, a Mercury designed and developed competitive crossword game, is promoted by Apple in “Best New Games,” where it reaches #12 in the Word Games category. The app is also praised for its attention to accessibility for visually impaired players.
TED is introduced at Google I/O as one of only ten launch partners for Google’s new Android TV initiative. The Mercury designed and developed app is mentioned during the keynote and demoed at the unveiling of the Android TV platform.
2013
Mercury participates in multiple local and national dev community events, including Google I/O and WWDC. Chief Design Officer Rusty Mitchell also leads a session on using animation to assist user experience at 360iDev in Denver and CocoaConf in Atlanta.
Mercury helps launch new iOS and Android applications for Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, BMI, USA Today Travel, and the University of Mississippi (for whom Mercury also provided designs for their primary university website relaunch).
2012
The Mercury designed and developed TED Android is named one of Google Play’s Top 12 Android apps of 2012. The TED app would be recognized on this list several more times in the coming years.
Mercury helps Washington Post redesign and develop their iPhone app, following a successful release of their first Android app the previous year. This 2.0 iPhone release is praised by Washington Post readers for its stability, speed, and usability.
The TED Talks app for Android launches to rave reviews and is the #1 Education app on Google Play. The app offers a thorough library of current and archived TED Talks, and it supports 20 different localized languages, including right-to-left languages.
2011
And the Emmy goes to…Comcast (with an assist from Mercury), as the XFINITY TV iPhone and Android are recognized by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences with an Emmy Engineering Certificate for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development.
Mercury helps Univision release apps for iPhone, Android, and iPad apps featuring content from a user’s favorite Univision programs and channels. Mercury also releases a series of white-label newspaper apps for Cox Media Group, including the AJC.
2010
Comcast releases the XFINITY TV Remote app for iOS devices, which allows subscribers to change channels, search, and schedule DVR recordings from their mobile devices. Mercury would continue to help update and improve the app for years to come.
Fueled by coffee and adrenaline, Mercury follows up the USA Today iPad app with Fox News iPhone, Showtime iPhone, and New York Times Android, all within a 6 week period.
USA Today iPad launches to huge praise on day one of Apple’s initial release of the iPad device. The app would peak at #3 overall in the App Store, was #1 in News for most of 2010, and would finish 2010 in the Top 25 most downloaded overall iPad apps.
2009
CNN iPhone launches and climbs to the #1 overall spot in the iTunes App Store for paid apps. It retains its #1 overall position in the store for almost a week. It was the first major application to feature live video streaming using the HLS protocol.
Mercury introduces its first Android app with USA Today Android. Google features the app at the top of their Top Free Apps for Android section and the app quickly shoots to the top of the Android Market news chart.
2008
Mercury launches its first mobile application, USA Today iPhone. The Mercury designed and developed app is an overnight success, peaking at #4 overall in the App Store. It changes the way people think about mobile news and set the course for Mercury.
