Mercury has been building software for the world’s leading brands for over 20 years. We started in desktop software and have been creating flagship mobile apps and full stack platform solutions since Apple’s App Store launched over 10 years ago.
We’re regularly recommended by both Apple and Google, and we’ve been trusted to deliver high performance, scaleable solutions for news, media, entertainment, utility, and education experiences on mobile devices (iOS and Android), connected devices (tvOS, Google/Fire TV, Roku, Samsung, Xbox, and more), and full stack end-to-end platforms for companies such as Comcast, Red Bull, NBA, Panasonic, TED, Showtime, CNN, New York Times, and many others. Few things surprise us. We have the experience to ensure your project’s success.

Our work has helped our partners win an Emmy, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award, a CA Interactive Design Award, and multiple Webbys.
An app we developed was once parodied on Futurama.
We make our own Mercury beef jerky, because nothing says “tech company” like…homemade…beef… jerky.
Jon Stewart mocked one of our client’s app launches on The Daily Show.
One of our clients promoted their app launch by hiring Segway drivers to ride around Times Square.
We’ve manned an official booth at Google I/O. Twice.
Mercury’s annual chili cook-off is in its seventh year. (We may have designed our own trophies.)
We once built an AR app to promote a show about a giant snake.
We created one of the first live streaming mobile apps for CNN. Remember the Balloon Boy hoax?
We had pre-release access to the first iPad to develop USA Today’s iPad app. The device was chained to a table in the same room where former USA Today reporter Jack Kelley was deposed.
Larry King wasn’t quite sure what an app was when he announced the “CNN A‑P‑P”.
Our work has been featured on devices and multiple in-store promotions in the Apple Store.
Our initial research and discovery process helps determine the key features to prioritize and the most effective technology solutions to use. This review also identifies challenges that could arise with content creation and delivery as well as third‑party services. Our goal is for our partners to release products even better than the ones they originally envisioned.
Having two decades of experience gives Mercury a point‑of‑view unlike many of our competitors. We’ve tackled a diverse set of challenges across multiple verticals and have developed efficiencies to avoid pitfalls and recommend technologies based on an extensive body of knowledge.
The apps we create live within defined ecosystems. For the best experience and user satisfaction, apps should look and feel like they belong on the platforms they reside on. Because of this, we rarely encourage universal design approaches where apps are identical across platforms.
We specialize in developing apps in the platform’s native environment. Native apps historically result in the best, most performant experiences and the latest access to new system level features. These attributes are valued by users and the platform owners. However, there are times when cross‑platform solutions make sense and we can help with those too.
We are not a catch-all digital agency tacking app design and development onto a larger digital initiative. We devote our attention to and obsess over designing and developing great apps every day. We specialize in creating the best experiences for iOS, Android, Roku, and the connected devices around these platforms.
We’ve worked in waterfall and agile environments. We’ve planned sprints, attended scrums, done acceptance testing, created user stories, and have used virtually every communication, project management, and case tracking product available. We have had long term integration with teams at multiple Fortune 500 companies. We will recommend ways to solve problems specific to our expertise and have lots of experience working with established processes.
We’re experienced at taking on the challenges associated with day-to-day maintenance and updates required to keep apps relevant in an ever‑evolving marketplace.
All products we build go through an extensive QA process from our full‑time, on‑site team using an array of tools and methods to ensure great performance, usability, and reliability on all devices they are delivered to, regardless of age or system version.
Our fully-remote team is just as well-versed in working alongside existing internal mobile teams as we are managing an entire mobile initiative.
Our client partners never have to guess who to reach out to when they have questions or if a problem arises. All key communication goes through a dedicated and experienced Mercurian.
